Analysis of Environmental Taxes in the EU

The subject of the thesis „Analysis of Environmental Taxes in the EU“ is describe and evaluate the implementation of the ecological tax reform in the European Union, especially in the Czech Republic. The work is dividend into four parts. The first part is devoted to the theoretical basis of the work, that is a brief introduction to the issue of taxes and the environment. The second part is concerned with the introduction of environmental taxes in both the EU and Czech Republic. The third part is devoted to comparison of taxes that are applied in the Czech Republic with the EU countries. The fourth part will deal with the impact of the reform on the particular business entity and household.

This thesis describes different types of externalities, their influence on a certain market, possible solutions and lastly evaluates a specific externality affecting the city Brno while simultaneously offering a method how to limit these external costs.

The main issue of this thesis is an emergence of externalities in process of production and consumption. This thesis describes a types of those externalities and a ways of solutions. The externalities and their evaluation are presented on specific company, thermal power station in Hodonín. This thesis also contains a results of questionnaire survey among residents of city Hodonín.

The thesis contains the theoretical basis for study of possibilities of pricing information goods. The source areas are microeconomics, marketing, competitive advantage and economics of information goods. The model of market is created with constraints defined on the ground of theoretical basis. The thesis analyzes requirements that define the system that supports the choice of pricing strategy. It includes detailed design of the prototype of such system. The prototype is designed with robustness because of the future improvements. The design describes the prototype's input parameters and their transformation into useful outputs that cover basic characteristics of information goods. The designed prototype is implemented. The thesis includes demonstration of the prototype and possible directions for improvements that lead to validity of proposed model of market.
Externalities in Transportation Industry, their solution possibilities and related risks

The target of the diploma thesis is to explain the concept of externality in transport and evaluate the current state of the traffic situation in the city of Brno with a focus on the location Tomkovo square, where is in progress the construction of another part of a large city ring road. Externalities will be evaluated in the locality with emphasis on the negative ones and their solutions. Based on theoretical knowledge, the results of the evaluation of the questionnaire survey, a case study will be created with the current facts of the consequences of transport and will support changes and opportunities to improve the quality of life in the locality. The results will be presented in public administration.

This bachelor’s thesis is focused on the analysis of environmental tax reform planed in the Czech Republic. First part contains theoretical definition of environmental related taxes. In next parts there are described basic principles and recourses of environmental tax reform and analysed proposals of environmental tax reform in the Czech Republic. As a practical model environmental tax reform in Germany is analysed. Its progress, consequences and general effects are appraised.

The thesis deals with existence of links between member states legislation and fleet status. The first part of the thesis defines externalities arising in road transport and their impact on human health. Furthermore, the system of road taxations in individual member states is described in this part of thesis, follow by an analysis of the vehicle fleet in terms of the type of tax base used. Based on analysis, the thesis tries to identify the links between the state of the vehicle fleet and tax system in the EU member state. At the end of the work, recommendations are formulated regarding the appropriate direction of European and national regulation of road transport.

Externalities in transport with emphasis on spatial aspects

Externalities in transport with emphasis on spatial aspects. Summary This Thesis deals with the externalities of transport with an emphasis on spatial externalities. It is divided into eight chapters which are then broken down into individual subsections. In the basic concepts chapter is included the theoretical part characterizing the phenomenons of transport and externalities, possibilities of quantification, solving and internalization of transport externalities and the current situation in the Czech Republic. The chapter Practical part includes specific studies and their results. First, the model area of Výtoň is described and there are given at least the basic information regarding the functioning of traffic lights, followed by the methodology of the survey and its results. This research is also followed by the questionnaire survey dealing with the pedestrian traffic in Prague. Both surveys point to the same goal which is to find out about the influence of fragmentation of the landscape on the lives of the city's inhabitants. This goal was achieved in the final chapter, which summarizes the most important findings from both surveys.
